If there’s anything more uncomfortable than an awkward moment, it’s when it unfolds on live television.
Live broadcasts are notorious for their mishaps and embarrassing instances, and award ceremonies are particularly prone to these occurrences.
The Golden Globes, launching this year’s awards season, featured an uncomfortable interaction between Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson.
Diesel, known for his role in the Fast & Furious series, was on stage to present the award for cinematic and box office achievement, which was awarded to Wicked.
Before doing so, he noticed his former co-star Johnson in the crowd and greeted, “Hey, Dwayne.”
The camera then shifted to the Jumanji star, who was seen smiling.
However, the interaction appeared less than friendly, and viewers quickly picked up on the tension.
Witness the moment here:
One observer commented on the brief interaction: “That is what you call an awkward moment!”
Another speculated: “They [hate] each other.”
Someone else remarked: “Lmao, the tension was real fr.”
An additional viewer noted: “Vin Diesel and the Rock face off at the Plot twist of the year?”
Let’s avoid a repeat of the 2022 Academy Awards incident, everyone.
Although it was a tense moment, in 2023 Johnson tweeted that he and Diesel had ‘put all the past behind us’.
He added at that time: “We’ll lead with brotherhood and resolve — and always take care of the franchise, characters & FANS that we love.”
