We wish we could tell you this is a photo of two unlikely friends about to embark on an epic journey together.
Sadly, that’s not quite the case. It’s actually a photo of a baby weasel trying to kill a woodpecker. But you’ll be glad to know that the woodpecker managed to escape unharmed. Still, how this bird was able to develop weasel-lugging prowess remains a mystery.
London based photographer Martin Le-May first noticed the woodpecker as it was hopping weirdly among a grassy plain while giving out some distressed squawking. A lot of wing flapping happened as the woodpecker tried to get the unwelcome mammal off its back. At some point, the bird was able to take flight, giving Le-May a chance to snap a few photos.
Nature never ceases to amaze!
