Bad Bunny shares heartfelt significance of the ’64’ on his Super Bowl attire

Bad Bunny revealed the emotional reason behind wearing the number 64 on his jersey during the Super Bowl performance.

The renowned Puerto Rican artist took the stage at this year’s halftime show, donning an outfit designed by Zara, an affordable fashion brand.

The Spanish fashion label commented: “It was an amazing show. Benito put on a memorable performance. What a great outfit.”

Styled by Storm Pablo and Marvin Douglas Linares, the ‘CYBERTRUCK’ singer was dressed in a cream ensemble, featuring a football jersey-style top.

His jersey bore the name Ocasio (his surname) along with the number 64.

Fans speculated about the significance of the number, with some guessing it related to his mother’s birth year. However, it was actually a tribute to his late uncle.

“1964 is the year my uncle Cutito, my mom’s brother, was born,” Bad Bunny explained to Rolling Stone.

“What little I know about the NFL is thanks to him. He left for the United States to work when he was 17 and never returned to live in Puerto Rico, although he always visited us in late January or early February and stayed at our house. That was right in the middle of the NFL postseason, so I always watched the games with him.”

He added that his uncle was a dedicated San Francisco 49ers fan, and their stadium was the venue for Super Bowl 60, where Bad Bunny performed.

The artist had always wished to take his uncle to the Super Bowl, but unfortunately, his uncle passed away two years ago unexpectedly.

Reflecting on this, Bad Bunny said: “So, for my Super Bowl halftime show, I decided to have him on my shirt: OCASIO, his last name, the same as my mom’s, and his birth year, 1964.”

“I dedicated my show to him before it started. I’m sure he appreciated it.”

“He saw it, he was there, and he was proud of his nephew. Now all that’s left is for the 49ers to win another Super Bowl.”

Fans have since expressed their emotions online about the heartfelt reason behind his Super Bowl outfit.

“That makes it even more special,” one person commented. “Not just a performance, but a beautiful tribute filled with love and respect. Real emotion, real legacy.”

Another added: “They were saying that it was his mom’s birthdate, but this is even more significant.”

Many others found the gesture to be deeply touching.
