Barack Obama addresses Jimmy Kimmel suspension, cautions against ‘dangerous’ cancel culture

Barack Obama expressed his disappointment on social media regarding the suspension of Jimmy Kimmel’s show.

The ex-President of the United States, Barack Obama, addressed the situation surrounding Jimmy Kimmel’s suspension, which occurred after he made remarks about the deceased conservative commentator Charlie Kirk and former President Donald Trump.

On Threads, Obama posted a report detailing the suspension of Kimmel’s show.

In his post, Obama stated: “After years of complaining about cancel culture, the current administration has taken it to a new and dangerous level by routinely threatening regulatory action against media companies unless they muzzle or fire reporters and commentators it doesn’t like.

“This is precisely the kind of government coercion that the First Amendment was designed to prevent — and media companies need to start standing up rather than capitulating to it.”
