Nathan Gallagher has broken his silence after his December arrest on domestic violence charges in Australia.
The “Below Deck Mediterranean” star, 28, spoke last Wednesday following reports that he was taken into custody on Dec. 27 at a Sydney apartment complex. Police allege he assaulted a 29-year-old woman and charged him with assault occasioning actual bodily harm, intentionally choking a person without consent and common assault.
“I’m not claiming I was perfect. I wasn’t,” Gallagher said. “I made mistakes and I will take responsibility for my own actions.”
The identity of the woman police say was choked has not been publicly disclosed. However, reports said that Gallagher’s “Below Deck” castmate Gael Cameron filed an Apprehended Violence Application against him, a legal mechanism designed to protect victims from stalking, harassment, threats or intimidation. Cameron and Gallagher share a 1-year-old son named Kayden.
Gallagher pushed back against what he described as a one-sided narrative.
“But I will not accept being portrayed solely through one person’s account of a relationship when there is another side and evidence relating to it,” he continued.
The Bravo personality claimed he possesses material that complicates the public account.
“I have evidence, including contemporaneous video footage from the night in question, as well as messages and other records, which I believe provide important context,” Gallagher said.
He broadened his defense beyond the immediate incident, alluding to unresolved disputes with Cameron.
“There are also other matters surrounding the relationship that I have never discussed publicly, including circumstances surrounding the breakdown of our relationship, previous allegations she made about a former partner and financial matters relating to the purchase of an apartment in Sydney,” he added.
Gallagher indicated he would present this material through formal proceedings rather than media channels.
“I have kept the evidence and will deal with it through the appropriate channels,” he said. “But I also don’t believe it is fair for one version of events to be presented publicly as though it is the complete story when there is evidence that may materially contradict or provide significant context to that account.”
The Australian case is scheduled for a hearing on Sept. 1. Gallagher was granted conditional bail, though his plea remains unclear.
Separately, the Irish news website Donegal Daily reported that a live bench warrant exists for Gallagher in Ireland. He is charged with assaulting another man and causing him harm on Main Street in Dungloe on August 7, 2022. The warrant was issued at Dungloe District Court in April 2025 after he failed to appear.
The US reports said that Gallagher will not return for the next season of “Below Deck Mediterranean.” His scenes from Season 11, currently airing on Bravo, will remain in the show.
