The intense and violent conclusion of the second season of Apple TV+’s Severance has left viewers eagerly awaiting the next installment. Producer Ben Stiller has recently addressed how long fans might have to wait for the upcoming season.
Severance made a strong return earlier this year after its mind-blowing season one finale, once again enthralling viewers with a storyline that defies conventional narratives.
The series, featuring a talented cast including Adam Scott, Britt Lower, Zach Cherry, John Turturro, Tramell Tillman, and Dichen Lachman, has garnered an impressive 96 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Fans have praised it as ‘the best TV show [they] have ever watched,’ which has only intensified the anticipation for a third season.
In an interview with LADbible Group, Stiller, who also directed several episodes, discussed the potential timeline for the next season, following a three-year gap between the first two seasons.
Offering reassurance, Stiller stated: “I mean, honestly, the idea is just to try as hard as we can to get it out as soon as possible. But it’s always that process.”
Stiller emphasized the importance of producing a show that meets audience expectations: “You know, you want to make something that when it gets out people like it and feel like it is what it should be.”
He acknowledged the challenges faced during production, adding, “We’ve had so many sort of, you know, natural things that have happened in the world each season.”
Stiller humorously mentioned an ‘asteroid they keep talking about’, with creator Dan Erickson quipping that they are ‘monitoring it.’
The actor and director added, “But, I mean, at some point when we’ll obviously announce [the release date].”
Stiller’s recent comments align with his earlier remarks on the British chat show This Morning, where he expressed his hopes for a shorter wait between seasons two and three: “I would love to tell you how long you’ll have to wait, but the goal is definitely not to wait three years, between two and three.”
While fans are excited about the prospect of a shorter wait, they have also defended the show despite the lengthy gap between seasons. One viewer commented, “yes severance took three years between seasons but have you considered that they also gave us two of the best episodes in television history within the span of one month.”
Severance can be streamed on AppleTV+.
