Biblical Clues Used by Researcher to Determine the Precise Time of Jesus’ Death

A newly published book claims to have pinpointed the specific day and time of Jesus Christ’s crucifixion through a combination of scientific analysis and Biblical references. The crucifixion of Jesus is a pivotal event in Christian theology, yet the Bible does not provide a precise date, leaving theologians and believers with a longstanding mystery.

While some Christians prioritize faith over historical details, others have devoted significant effort to uncovering more about the timing of this event. One such individual is Woodrow Michael Kroll, a preacher and radio host, who has authored a book asserting he has determined the exact timing of Jesus’s death.

Kroll’s book, “The Day Jesus Died: Discovering the Year, Date, Day, and Time of Jesus’ Crucifixion,” released earlier this year, presents evidence that, according to Kroll, corroborates Biblical texts to estimate when Jesus was crucified.

Historians have deduced that Jesus likely died at 3:00 pm on Friday, April 3, 33 AD, and Kroll’s book presents data supporting this conclusion. According to the Gospel of Mark, 15:34, Jesus died at the “ninth hour,” which experts interpret not as 9:00 am, but as mid-afternoon, given the Jewish day started at sunrise around 6:00 am.

Kroll also concluded that the crucifixion occurred on a Friday, as all four gospels mention it took place on the “Day of Preparation,” the day before the Sabbath, which is Saturday. His conclusions are further supported by astronomical data related to the crucifixion’s timing.

The Bible verse Acts 2:20 mentions “the moon turning to blood” after the crucifixion, and Kroll discovered that on April 3, 33 AD, a full moon associated with Passover shone over Jerusalem, with a partial lunar eclipse occurring that evening.

Kroll dismissed the theory that Jesus was crucified on a Wednesday, arguing it contradicts Biblical accounts and the Jewish customs of that era. In his book, he confidently asserts his findings.

He wrote: “Based on eyewitness, historical, and literary accounts, readers can pinpoint the hour Jesus said: ‘It is finished’. It’s almost like being there.”
