Bill Maher has mocked Taylor Swift’s romantic history once again during his HBO monologue.
The “Real Time” host, 70, delivered the line Friday night while analyzing Republican setbacks in the midterm elections, specifically a reported 28-point swing among young white male voters away from President Donald Trump. “Taylor Swift hasn’t lost this many white guys,” he said, drawing a mixed response of groans and applause from the studio audience.

Maher’s latest dig arrived just one week after another Swift reference generated backlash. During his Oct. 30 broadcast, he compared dining with Trump to dating the pop superstar. “Eating with Trump is like dating Taylor Swift: It’s a lot of laughs at the time, but later on, they’re tearing you a new a–hole,” he said in that monologue.
The comedian has developed a recurring pattern of using Swift’s love life as punchline material across his platforms. On his “Club Random” podcast in July 2024, he made a blunt prediction about her fledgling romance with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. “He’s gonna dump her, though, you know that,” he told internet personality Haliey Welch during their conversation.
Maher pressed the point with a sports-themed analogy. “With her, it’s like the Gatorade at the Super Bowl, you know you’re gonna get dumped,” he continued. “You just don’t know when.”
Welch, who gained fame as the “Hawk Tuah Girl” viral video star, pushed back by highlighting Swift’s creative track record. “If he does that, can you imagine the next album we’re gonna get off of that?” she gushed.
“It won’t be ‘F–k John Mayer’ no more, it will be ‘F–k Travis,'” she said, referencing Swift’s 2010 breakup hit “Dear John” following her brief romance with the “Gravity” singer between 2009 and 2010.

The source text notes that Swift and Kelce ultimately married in July at a star-studded ceremony held at New York City’s Madison Square Garden, though this detail appears in the context of Maher’s March 2025 monologue material.

Earlier this year, Maher framed Swift’s relationship longevity as a political absurdity. “This world is so upside down now. It took [President] Trump three weeks to break up with Ukraine and Mexico, and Canada,” he began during a March “Real Time” episode.
“And yet, Taylor Swift has the same boyfriend for over a year,” he added, referencing her Kelce romance at that stage.

Swift, now 35, has faced public scrutiny over her dating history throughout her career, with past relationships including “Hamnet” actor Joe Alwyn, The 1975 frontman Matty Healy, One Direction alum Harry Styles, Academy Award nominee Jake Gyllenhaal, “Twilight” actor Taylor Lautner, and singer-songwriter Joe Jonas. Over the years, she has defended her romantic life by noting she was simply dating like a “normal person” and calling out the double standard that men face less criticism for their dating histories than women do.
Maher’s pattern of Swift-targeting jokes spans multiple years and both his HBO show and podcast platforms, with the comedian repeatedly returning to her personal relationships as a source of material regardless of her current relationship status.

A representative for Swift did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Saturday afternoon regarding Maher’s latest remarks.

Maher is scheduled to continue hosting “Real Time with Bill Maher” on HBO.
