Bill Ackman has made a $10,000 contribution to a GoFundMe campaign set up in support of the ICE agent who shot and killed Renee Nicole Good.
In Minneapolis, Minnesota, just blocks from her home, Renee Nicole Good was shot by ICE agent Jonathan Ross on January 7, leading to widespread protests across the United States.
Video footage available through various news outlets shows Good’s final moments. The 37-year-old mother of three, who was unarmed, was trying to drive away when Ross fired multiple shots through her car’s side window. Officials claimed she used her car as a ‘weapon’ and attempted to run over the officer during raids in the neighborhood.
Although there has been significant anger regarding the methods used by the agency, with many labeling Good’s death as murder, President Trump defended the ICE agent. He posted on Truth Social, stating: “The woman screaming was, obviously, a professional agitator, and the woman driving the car was very disorderly, obstructing and resisting, who then violently, willfully, and viciously ran over the ICE officer, who seems to have shot her in self-defense.”

Vice President JD Vance commented that Good ‘violated the law’ and that the shooting was justified.
A GoFundMe page was established for Ross, and it received a significant donation from Ackman, a prominent hedge fund manager and the founder of Pershing Square Capital Management.
Ackman later confirmed his $10,000 donation in a statement on X, where he expressed his belief in the presumption of innocence until proven guilty. He noted his intention to support both Jonathan Ross and Renee Good’s family but mentioned that Good’s GoFundMe was closed before he could contribute.
Good’s GoFundMe donations have been suspended after exceeding $1.5 million, far surpassing the original $50,000 goal.
Ackman further commented, “The whole situation is a tragedy. An officer doing his best to do his job, and a protester who likely did not intend to kill the officer but whose actions in a split second led to her death. Our country is stronger if we work together to resolve the complex issues that are tearing us apart.”

In response to the public’s support, Becca, Good’s widow, issued a heartfelt statement through MPR News. She shared that Renee leaves behind three children, including a six-year-old who has already lost his father.
Becca’s statement included: “First, I want to extend my gratitude to all the people who have reached out from across the country and around the world to support our family.
“This kindness of strangers is the most fitting tribute because if you ever encountered my wife, Renee Nicole Macklin Good, you know that above all else, she was kind. In fact, kindness radiated out of her.
“Renee sparkled. She literally sparkled. I mean, she didn’t wear glitter but I swear she had sparkles coming out of her pores. All the time. You might think it was just my love talking but her family said the same thing. Renee was made of sunshine.
“Renee lived by an overarching belief: there is kindness in the world and we need to do everything we can to find it where it resides and nurture it where it needs to grow. Renee was a Christian who knew that all religions teach the same essential truth: we are here to love each other, care for each other, and keep each other safe and whole.”
