Billy Bush has accused author Amy Griffin of confronting him at Jennifer Meyer’s wedding in Hawaii.
Bush, 55, made the allegation on Monday’s episode of his “Hot Mics” podcast, claiming the venture capitalist, 49, tried to “put [him] in [his] place and embarrass [him] in front of” hundreds of guests at the Oct. 10 ceremony on Lanai. The entertainment journalist said Griffin had been “telling anyone who would listen not to talk to” him, presumably over his podcast coverage casting doubt on claims in her 2025 memoir, “The Tell.”
The former “Access Hollywood” host said he noticed Demi Moore attempting to intervene before the confrontation escalated. “Demi [was] saying, ‘It’s OK, you can go talk to him,'” he recounted on the podcast. “Like ‘Amy, it’s alright, stop!’ This whole scene is unfolding. And then finally, [Griffin] comes at me.”
According to Bush, Griffin arrived “shaking” and “sweating,” then stumbled and sent her purse flying across the scene. She allegedly told him, “You don’t know me,” then railed against him for speculating that she plagiarized the art on her book cover.
Bush said he attempted to de-escalate the situation. “OK, I can see you’re upset. I don’t think this is the time nor the place to have this discussion. I’d love to talk to you on the record and/or off. Either way, at another time, but not now.”
He boasted that he remained “calm and cool the whole time” and claimed others praised him for handling the interaction “beautifully.” The confrontation apparently did not end there — Bush alleged Griffin then approached his girlfriend, Allison Wise, and demanded, “How could you be with someone who’s abusing me?… He’s doing this for his entertainment.”
Bush lashed out at Griffin’s conduct during the nuptials, which drew celebrities including Leonardo DiCaprio and Courteney Cox. “This is another woman’s wedding. Imagine making it all about you, right?” he said, calling out her “narcissism” and “nerve.”
Despite the tension, Bush spoke warmly of Griffin’s husband, John Griffin. “I felt that he was nice, he was reasonable, even-tempered and, let’s just be real, husband of the century,” he quipped on the podcast.
Bush also gushed about the ceremony itself, particularly Tobey Maguire’s role officiating the wedding of his ex-wife Meyer, 48. The jewelry designer had defended the “unconventional” choice in a Vogue interview Thursday, calling the actor’s participation “so special.” Bush described Maguire, 51, as delivering “funny and self-effacing” remarks that gave him “hope for humanity.”
The wedding clash stems from ongoing controversy surrounding Griffin’s memoir, which recounts her alleged rape in middle school by a childhood teacher — a memory she claims to have recovered through MDMA-assisted therapy decades later. A former classmate has sued Griffin, alleging the sexual abuse described in “The Tell” mirrored her own experience and was stolen from her childhood. Griffin has denied adopting the woman’s trauma and filed a defamation countersuit in June.
Bush has covered the legal drama extensively on “Hot Mics,” publicly questioning the veracity of Griffin’s claims and raising allegations about the book cover art’s origins.
Meyer and Ogunlesi’s star-studded ceremony took place Oct. 10 on Lanai, with the bride’s ex-husband Maguire presiding over the vows.
