“I’m going to try and achieve immortality by 2039,” biohacker Bryan Johnson announced as he unveiled his ambitious plans to ‘live forever’.
The tech entrepreneur from Silicon Valley is well-known for his dedication to extreme longevity experiments. He believes that the combination of science, biology, and AI is finally paving the way to achieve eternal life.
In a lengthy message to his followers, he began with a bold statement: “One year of time passes and I remain the same biological age. I invite you to join me.”
Johnson described his quest as humanity’s oldest pursuit, suggesting that the elusive ‘fountain of youth’ is now within reach due to recent scientific advancements.
The 48-year-old highlighted that the last two years have been pivotal: “For the first time in the history of life on earth, in just the past 24 months, the window has opened for a conscious being to realistically strive for this goal.”
He referred to the present moment as an ‘absolutely insane moment’.

Even though there’s no concrete roadmap to immortality yet, Johnson is convinced that nature already provides evidence of its possibility.
“We currently do not know how 2039 immortality will be achieved,” he acknowledged.
“But we know immortality is possible because nature has already solved it.”
He cited examples like the freshwater hydra, which shows no signs of aging, and the immortal jellyfish, known for its ability to restart its life cycle. Additionally, lobsters utilize highly active telomerase to maintain their DNA. He suggests that this biological ‘software’ needs to be adapted for humans.
Johnson sees artificial intelligence as the crucial element in this endeavor, claiming that ‘2039 is a reasonable target because of the accelerated, AI-driven rate of innovation’.

He elaborated: “AI is morphing from assistant to scientist.”
With the integration of advanced biomarker tracking, Johnson believes this creates a feedback loop that significantly accelerates progress.
He uses his own body as a testament to his theories. After six years of meticulous monitoring and following specific protocols, Johnson claims his cardiovascular health, strength, fertility, and hormones function at the level of an ‘elite 18-year-old’. However, he notes that not all aspects are reversible, citing some hearing loss and a brain age of 42.
Amazingly, Johnson disclosed that he is creating ‘thousands of Bryan Johnson organ clones built in a dish’ to evaluate drugs and therapies safely before applying them to his body.
Regardless of the actual feasibility of immortality, Johnson remains adamant that it’s ‘the coolest goal imaginable’ – and he’s willing to stake his life on it.
