Blake Lively has recently addressed her support for Taylor Swift’s new album, despite rumors suggesting a strain in their friendship.
The longstanding friendship between Taylor Swift and Blake Lively has been well-documented over the years. However, some speculated that the two might be growing apart due to Lively’s legal issues with Justin Baldoni.
Back in December, Lively filed a lawsuit against her It Ends With Us co-star, Justin Baldoni, accusing him of sexual harassment and of allegedly orchestrating a ‘smear campaign’ against her. Baldoni has denied these allegations and any misconduct.
In response, Baldoni filed a $400 million countersuit against Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds. This lawsuit was later dismissed by a judge in June.
Rumors circulated that Swift was to be deposed in the case, but her lawyer refuted these claims, stating that Swift has ‘no material role’ in the ongoing legal matter.
Lively has dismissed speculation of a fallout between her and Swift by showing support for Swift’s new album, Life of a Showgirl.
Swift announced the album release on Instagram, writing: “Tonight all these lives converge here. The mosaics of laughter and cocktails of tears, Where fraternal souls sing identical things, And it’s beautiful, It’s rapturous, It is frightening.
“I can’t tell you how proud I am to share this with you, an album that just feels so right. A forever thank you goes out to my mentors and friends Max and Shellback for helping me paint this self portrait.
“If you thought the big show was wild, perhaps you should come and take a look behind the curtain… The Life of a Showgirl is out now.”
Though comments were disabled on Swift’s post, observant fans noticed that Lively was among the seven million users who liked the announcement.
Some fans have speculated that the track ‘Cancelled’ from the album might be about Lively, although Swift has not confirmed this. The song includes lyrics about valuing friendships even when they face public controversies.
Despite the speculation, it seems unlikely that the song is about Lively, as Swift wrote The Life of a Showgirl during her Eras Tour, which concluded before Lively made her allegations against Baldoni.
