Blake Lively’s Email to Ben Affleck Regarding Justin Baldoni Drama Causes Second-Hand Embarrassment

In May 2024, Blake Lively sent an email to Ben Affleck soon after completing her role in It Ends With Us with Justin Baldoni, according to new information.

The film was released in August 2024, and by December, Lively had filed a lawsuit against Baldoni, accusing him of creating a hostile work environment due to alleged sexual harassment and boundary violations.

Over the past year, there has been ongoing legal contention between Lively and Baldoni. In November 2025, the Jane the Virgin star’s $400 million countersuit was dismissed.

Lively’s case is still active, with a trial scheduled for May 18. Oral arguments are set for tomorrow (January 22), where attorneys from both sides will present their legal arguments and respond to the judge’s inquiries.

With the upcoming proceedings, numerous files have been made public, including a document outlining alleged text conversations between Lively and Taylor Swift.

Additionally, an email that Gossip Girl star Lively sent to Ben Affleck in May 2024 has surfaced.

In her email to the two-time Oscar winner, she wrote: “I’m writing with a zero pressure ask. I’ve just come out the other side (well almost) of the most upsetting experience I’ve ever had on a movie.

“The making of doc of this film would be more interesting than the movie could ever be. It’s like if Wild Wild Country, Fyre Festival, and Going Clear had a baby with The RoomRoom also works though.”

Lively claimed she had to redo the entire script and co-direct the film with Baldoni, whom she referred to as a ‘chaotic clown director’.

“Oh and did I mention he and everyone he had on the movie is in a cult,” Lively’s email to her The Town co-star continued.

“If I would’ve just formally directed it, it would’ve been much easier, but having to troubleshoot through his taste, ego, and preexisting decisions made it so difficult and that’s not even touching on any of the wild HR issues and beyond. Anyway, now I’m in a bake off with him in the edit.”

She then asked Affleck if he would be willing to watch the movie and offer any editing suggestions.

Praising Affleck’s then-wife Jennifer Lopez, Lively added: “If your wife or kids are around, I’d love their opinion also (fyi it does cover domestic violence so no one is caught off guard). I’m such a fan of Jennifer’s, I’ve told her as much every time I’ve met her, and it would be an honor to have her take.”

The public has shared their reactions to Lively’s email to Affleck after it became known.

One person commented on Twitter: “Second-hand embarrassment for @blakelively creepy letters.”

“This is embarrassing,” echoed another, while a third remarked: “Incredibly unprofessional… Not the sort of email you would send if you wanted to be taken seriously.”

It remains unknown whether Affleck responded to Lively’s request to view the film.

Inquiries have been made to Lively’s legal team for a statement.
