Bodycam footage captures the arrest of Weezer bassist Scott Schriner’s wife following police shooting

Bodycam footage has surfaced depicting the arrest of Jillian Lauren Shriner, the wife of Weezer bassist Scott Shriner, after she was shot by police.

On April 8, officers responded to a hit-and-run incident on the 134 Freeway in the Los Angeles area of Eagle Rock. Reports indicated that three suspects had fled the scene, prompting an extensive search by California Highway Patrol officers.

During the manhunt, officers encountered Jillian Lauren Shriner, who was allegedly brandishing a handgun in her front yard and aiming it at the police.

The footage from the police bodycam captures the moment officers instructed the author, originally from New Jersey, to drop her weapon before they fired shots.

The mother of three, who has recently disclosed her battle with cancer, sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to her shoulder. She was briefly held on suspicion of attempted murder while receiving medical care for her injuries.

Newly released footage from home surveillance cameras shows Shriner emerging from her Los Angeles residence with a handgun in hand.

Subsequent police bodycam footage reveals officers looking over a fence repeatedly instructing her to drop the weapon.

The intense situation shows officers calling for backup due to a ‘415’ disturbance, eventually leading them to draw their weapons.

During the encounter, officers can be heard discussing Shriner’s movements as she ‘walks away’ while ‘armed’.

In conversation, officers mention the possibility of having to shoot if she raises the gun.

“Ma’am, we’re trying to help you,” an officer calls out from behind the fence, urging her to drop the gun and raise her hands.

Another officer adds, “Drop the gun, you’re going to get shot. It’s the police!”

A third officer states, “It’s the California Highway Patrol.”

Despite efforts to communicate, some officers lose sight of Shriner.

One officer queries, “I can’t see, what is she doing right now?” while another responds, “I have her taking steps back.”

“Hey she just pointed it. Not at us but she just lifted it up,” another officer reports before shots are fired, confirmed via walkie-talkies.

Footage from Shriner’s home cameras also appears to depict her pointing the gun toward the officers’ direction.

After being shot in the shoulder, Shriner was arrested while lying on the ground.

The LAPD also released photos displaying Shriner’s firearm, bullet shells, and her injuries.

In response to the incident, Scott Shriner confirmed his wife’s condition, stating, “She’s alright, thank you for asking. See you at Coachella.”

The incident unfolded when a suspect in the hit-and-run reportedly entered a neighboring property.

The suspect allegedly attempted to evade officers by stripping to his underwear and swimming in a resident’s pool, even watering plants in an unusual bid to blend in.

Shriner reportedly informed officers she was defending her home from the suspect at large in the area.

She has since been released on a $1 million bond and is slated to appear in court on April 30.
