She was found at around 12:30 PM on Wednesday after being gone for over 15 hours. The toddler had a few scratches and was overheated, but was found safe after surviving in the woods alone.
“That’s a child, that’s a child!” one of the officers can be heard in the video. They quickly took off to where the cries were.
When Kamiyah was found, a look of fear and relief could be both seen on her face. She then rested her hands on one of the men who picked her up.
“We are grateful that our guys used the training they’ve received thus far to bring about a happy ending,” Savannah police said on Facebook. “Way to go!”
The child had last been seen with her mother around 5 PM on Tuesday. Kamiyah’s mother was seen the following morning in what appeared to be a crisis situation without her daughter. Police were notified immediately thereafter.
Her mother was found on Wednesday morning. Both the mother and daughter were taken to the hospital for evaluation.
