Bondi Beach savior Ahmed al-Ahmed who subdued gunman speaks from hospital with heartfelt message

The brave individual who disarmed a shooter during the Bondi Beach terror incident has provided an update from his hospital bed.

Ahmed al-Ahmed is being celebrated for his courageous actions at Bondi Beach in Australia, where 15 lives were tragically lost, including one of the shooters.

Video evidence reveals the 44-year-old Syrian-born shopkeeper using a vehicle for cover as he discreetly approaches an armed assailant.

He risked his life by engaging the shooter in a physical struggle, ultimately managing to take the weapon away.

Mr. al-Ahmed’s bravery has been recognized, as his actions potentially saved countless lives.

Currently, he is in the hospital recovering from two gunshot wounds and has shared a heartfelt message from his hospital bed.

TRT World, Türkiye’s public broadcaster, shared a video of al-Ahmed in the hospital, sending prayers and thanks to everyone.

In Arabic, he expressed: “I appreciate the efforts of everyone. May Allah reward you and grant you wellbeing. God willing, we will return to you with joy. Thank you for your efforts.”

He continued: “I went through a very difficult phase, only Allah knows it … I ask my mother, the apple of my eye, to pray for me.”

High-profile figures have visited Mr. al-Ahmed at St George Hospital in south Sydney, where he underwent surgery for his injuries.

Governor General Sam Mostyn was among those who visited, expressing gratitude on behalf of King Charles.

Mostyn stated: “For Ahmed, he wants to send thanks for … that moment of absolute heroics that we’ve all been staggered by and so grateful for.”

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese also visited Mr. al-Ahmed, commending him: “Your heart is strong, your courage is inspiring.”

The Prime Minister noted Mr. al-Ahmed is recovering and will undergo further surgery on Wednesday.

He remarked: “He was trying to get a cup of coffee, simple as that, and found himself at a moment where people were being shot in front of him.”

Former Prime Minister John Howard also commended the hero.

He told Sky News: “The single act of greatest courage we’ve seen is that magnificent man who tackled the bloke with the gun, and I understand he’s a Muslim.”

Howard added, “There are good people of every persuasion in this wonderful country, and despite this tragedy, we should not lose faith in the Australian achievement.”
