A young boy is being celebrated as a hero for his courageous act of saving his sister during a vicious dog attack.
In 2020, Bridger Walker, then just six years old, bravely intervened when a German Shepherd charged at them at a friend’s home in Wyoming.
The heroic act resulted in Bridger requiring 90 stitches to his face, necessitating a two-hour surgical procedure.
Recalling that harrowing day, Bridger stated, “If someone had to die, I thought it should be me.”
A year after the incident, Bridger’s father, Robert Walker, shared with People in 2021 how his son remained steadfast in his belief.
He explained, “My wife and I asked him, ‘Do you want it to go away?’ And he said, ‘I don’t want it to go all the way away,'” the father of five stated. “Bridger considers his scar a symbol of pride, yet doesn’t equate it with his brave act. He simply sees it as, ‘I was a brother and that’s what brothers do.’ It’s a reminder that his sister was unharmed and is safe.
“It sometimes troubles him when he’s called a hero, as he [feels], ‘Maybe I could have done more to protect her.'”
Bridger has been praised online, with his story recently gaining attention again on Reddit.
One person commented: “Well done little man, braver than many at such a young age…”
Another added: “This lil hero better get everything from his Christmas list this year.”
Bridger’s story caught the attention of several celebrities, including Anne Hathaway, Chris Evans, and Tom Holland.
Tom Holland even invited Bridger to visit the set of Spider-man: No Way Home, a promise he fulfilled.
Robert shared on Instagram: “Remember when @tomholland2013 promised Bridger he could visit the Spider-Man filming? He kept his word!
“Upon arriving on set, I was concerned the ‘curtain being pulled back’ might diminish the movie magic for the kids.
“The opposite happened! Tom, Zendaya, Harry, @lifeisaloha, @tonyrevolori, and the entire cast/crew made our children feel like stars. They don’t just portray friendly neighborhood heroes – it’s genuinely who they are.”
