Authorities in Wisconsin may have taken a significant step towards solving a nearly two-decade-old mystery.
It has been reported this week that the police believe they have identified the person responsible for the murder of Deidre Harm, a 21-year-old single mother who went missing in 2006.
Harm was last seen on 10 June after leaving a bar in downtown Wisconsin Rapids. Her remains were discovered five months later by hunters in a nearby wooded area.
On Monday, October 20, the Wood County Sheriff’s Office revealed that they have concluded the investigation into Harm’s death, attributing her disappearance and death to Christopher Revak.
In a letter made public on Facebook, District Attorney Jonathan E. Barnett conveyed to Sheriff Shawn Becker that it was his “determination that I would have filed a complaint against Christopher E. Revak were he still alive.”

Barnett also mentioned that he “would have filed charges against Revak if he were still alive,” and felt there was sufficient evidence to prosecute and achieve a conviction if Revak were alive today.
Revak, who previously worked as an EMT, died by suicide in a Missouri jail in 2009, a day after being charged with the murder of another woman, Rene Williams, a 36-year-old mother of three.
Williams disappeared in 2007 after her shift ended at the Eagle Lodge bar, where Revak was reportedly seen on the same night, though her body was never recovered.
Investigators had long suspected Revak’s involvement in Williams’ case, with evidence reportedly including his DNA at the scene.
Missouri Sheriff Chris Degase, who worked on Williams’ case, told Fox News Digital: “When I started working on the Christopher Revak case, he was my suspect in the murder of Rene Williams. I didn’t think it was his first go-around at it.”
Revak was also a person of interest in the 1995 disappearance of Jodi Huisentruit in Mason City, Iowa.

The news anchor vanished on her way to work, leaving behind high heels and a bent car key near her vehicle. Despite extensive searches, her body was never found, and she was declared legally dead in 2001.
Fox 9 reported that Revak was considered a possible suspect in her disappearance; however, Mason City Police Lt. Frank Stearns informed a local newspaper in 2009 that there was no evidence linking him to the case.
Degase expressed that the recent developments in Harm’s case raise unsettling questions, telling KY3: “We’re dealing with what’s possibly a serial killer.
“During his day, he’s doing his deed to society and helping people and saving people, but there was a dark side to Chris Revak.
Huisentruit’s family remains hopeful for eventual answers, stating: “True peace will only come when Jodi is found and justice is served.”
A reward of $50,000 is still being offered to anyone who can provide information regarding her disappearance.
