Britney Spears has candidly discussed her recent decision to remarry, acknowledging that it might seem ’embarrassing’ or ‘stupid’ but calling it ‘the most brilliant thing’ she has ‘ever done’.
Spears’ previous relationship with Sam Asghari culminated in a wedding in 2022, after the couple had dated for six years. Their marriage ended a little over a year later.
Asghari filed for divorce from the singer, citing ‘irreconcilable differences’. Despite the split, he has maintained a positive view of their relationship.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Asghari admitted that while there were times he felt ‘sad or upset’ about the end of their relationship, he was mostly ‘happy that it ever even happened’.
“Celebrate the past. That’s how I look at it,” he added.
The pair concluded their ‘journey’ together in 2023, parting on seemingly amicable terms. Now, Spears seems to have moved forward, having remarried in an unconventional manner.
Spears has apparently embraced her past and is now looking to the future. She recently announced she is ‘married’ again, roughly a year after her divorce from Asghari was made public.
In a post on her Instagram page dated October 21, Spears shared a video of herself wearing a white wedding dress and veil.
The caption stated: “The day I married myself …
“Bringing it back because it might seem embarrassing or stupid, but I think it’s the most brilliant thing I’ve ever done !!!”
Although Spears disabled the comments on her post, fans quickly shared their thoughts on Twitter.
Many supporters have rallied behind the singer.
One Instagram user commented: “I may be biased but I love everything she does! She’s truly iconic and just everything that a person wants to admire.”
“She’s very empowering, this will be followed by millions of people across the globe,” another expressed.
A third person remarked: “Congrats to Britney Spears for marrying herself.”
“Britney Spears married herself. And I am wholeheartedly here for that take on life,” another user shared.
However, some people expressed confusion or concern about the situation.
One user wrote: “It’ll never last.”
“Somebody should check on this woman…,” another suggested.
A third person observed: “I thought she was dressing up for Halloween.”
Lastly, someone concluded: “Well, she is doing her own thing, that is for sure.”
