Britney Spears’ son is said to have made a striking change related to his name, a move that some believe signals he’s feeling more connected to his famous mom than ever.
Spears has faced a difficult stretch recently and, in early March, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
After the incident, a representative for Spears described the situation as ‘completely inexcusable’.
“Hopefully this can be the first step in long overdue change that needs to occur in Britney’s life.”
The representative also noted that she has been spending time with her two sons — Jayden, 19, and Sean Preston, 20.
Following the March arrest, Spears is scheduled to appear in court on May 4 in Ventura County, California.
Not long after she was taken into custody, Spears’ Instagram page went offline, though she has returned to posting in recent days. In one update featuring her younger son, she expressed gratitude for the support she’s received.
“Thank you guys for all your support… spending time with family and friends is such a blessing !!!”
More recently, Spears appears to have been vacationing with her children, sharing videos and photos of the trio enjoying time together on a boat.
Spears shares her sons with ex-husband Kevin Federline, who last year released a memoir titled You Thought You Knew describing his life with the pop star.
In response to Spears’ DUI arrest, a representative for Federline addressed the situation and maintained that he only wants the best for her.
While the siblings have largely lived with Federline over the years, a reported move by Sean Preston has added to speculation that he and Spears are becoming closer.
According to TMZ, Spears’ oldest son has updated his Instagram name to “Sean P. Spears.” Previously, it appeared as “Sean Preston.” His legal surname is Federline.
Spears also appeared to take a swipe at an ex in a post shared yesterday, implying that marriage played a role in her stepping back from the entertainment world.
Alongside a set of throwback images from various TV appearances — including Saturday Night Live — the ‘Womanizer’ singer wrote:
“Remember me when I use to be in show business before my marriage.”
It’s not clear whether the comment was aimed at Federline or her most recent ex-husband, Sam Asghari. Spears and Asghari were together for several years, though their marriage lasted 14 months.
She added that a fan page had surfaced the images for her, giving them credit for bringing the photos back into view.
