Britney Spears’s hefty child support payments to ex-Kevin Federline conclude as youngest child turns 18

Britney Spears’ child support payments to her ex-husband, Kevin Federline, are reportedly set to conclude as their youngest son turns 18 today (September 12).

The pop icon and Federline were wed in 2004 and share two sons: Sean Preston and Jayden James.

Spears filed for divorce from Federline in 2006, citing ‘irreconcilable differences,’ according to PEOPLE.

After a prolonged custody battle, Federline was awarded full custody of their children in 2006 following Spears’ placement in a conservatorship. The ‘Gimme More’ singer was later granted expanded visitation rights in 2008.

In 2019, the custody arrangement was modified to permit Spears 30 percent unsupervised custodial rights, as reported by E! News.

Today (September 12) is Jayden James’ 18th birthday, which The Daily Mail claims will bring an end to his child support payments from Spears.

Sean Preston celebrated his 18th birthday on September 14 of last year.

A source alleged that Spears has contributed an ‘extraordinary’ amount of money toward her children’s upbringing, estimated to exceed $5 million over 17 years.

The source informed the publication: “The amount of money Britney has given Kevin for the two boys is extraordinary and it is enough for any man to support an entire family, which is what she believes he has done.”

They added: “Britney is hearing that he is not a happy camper, while Britney is living her best life.”

Furthermore, it was claimed that Spears will not spend the day with her son, a situation reportedly disappointing for the Crossroads star. Jayden currently resides in Hawaii with his father and Federline’s third wife, Victoria Prince, and is expected to be ‘celebrating with his friends.’

However, the source noted that she plans to give him a gift that ‘is more expensive than anything his father could afford.’

Federline had previously spoken about his sons’ relationship with their mother following the end of her conservatorship in 2021, a move he said ‘saved her life.’

In a 2022 interview with ITV, Federline remarked that Sean Preston and Jayden James had chosen not to see their mother, stating: “The boys have decided they are not seeing her right now.”

He described the situation as ‘tough’ and ‘the most challenging thing I’ve ever had to do in my life.’

Spears responded to Federline’s statements on Instagram, expressing her sadness over his comments about her relationship with her sons. She wrote: “As we all know, raising teenage boys is never easy for anyone … it concerns me the fact that the reason is based on my Instagram … I gave them everything … Only one word: HURTFUL … I’ll say it … My mother told me “You should GIVE them to their dad” … I’m sharing this because I can … Have a good day folks !!!”
