Brooklyn Beckham, 27, reposted a seawater pasta video originally filmed last year on TikTok on Thursday to promote his Cloud23 hot sauce brand.
Brooklyn started his cooking video by dipping a sauce pan in the sea to fill up his pot from his luxury yacht, before chopping his tomatoes and adding them to an oiled pan.
In the clip, Beckham spoke directly to viewers about his unconventional pasta water source.
“Of course we get some pasta water,” he said in the TikTok video.
He then used that water to boil pasta while he started working on a simple sauce that included cherry tomatoes, garlic, his own brand Cloud 23 hot sauce, plus cheese and basil to garnish.
The ocean water choice sparked immediate ridicule in the comments.
“Pasta water with a hint of burnt boat fuel please sir,” read one popular comment on the TikTok video.
One commentator joked: “Is boat exhaust the secret ingredient?”
Another commenter questioned the approach with sarcasm.
“Hi, quick question. I haven’t got the sea in my back Garden. Will tap water do?” asked another.
Some followers expressed doubt about the recipe’s legitimacy.
“It looks delicious Brooklyn, but the water is a joke right?” said another.
Another joked: “Mmmmmh, motor oil pasta water.”
Beyond the water-source mockery, critics also attacked Beckham’s cooking abilities more broadly.
One user fired back with heavy sarcasm.
“When his Dad was the same age, he’d just signed for Real Madrid. But tomato pasta is a pretty good achievement, too,” wrote one user.
Another critic posed a rhetorical question.
“Brooklyn, can you show me how to make a glass of water, next?” asked another.
Health and food safety concerns also dominated the discussion among viewers worried about the seawater’s contents.
“Don’t use sea water! There is a lot of bacteria!!” one person commented, while another remarked: “That’s disgusting using that water,” and a third told him to “rethink the water [aspect]” of his dish.
Some followers took a more positive stance, however.

Professional chefs also weighed in on the stunt.
Last August, just a couple of months after Brooklyn posted this pasta recipe for the first time, he was mocked by Queen Elizabeth’s royal chef for using seawater, saying: “If you suggested this to an Italian I think they would be horrified. To be honest, it’s ridiculous.”
In a separate blast,
a culinary expert noted: “If you’re cooking in sea water it’s going to be much saltier than you need for pasta.”
Brooklyn’s cooking videos have drawn mockery for years.
In June 2023, Brooklyn Beckham shocked his fans when he used an entire $26 bottle of avocado oil to fry two pieces of chicken, and viewers were quick to point out the expense.
In October of that year, Beckham addressed the constant online criticism with defiance.
Brooklyn told Insider: “To be honest, I’m used to the hate. It doesn’t really bother me. Cooking makes me happy. I have more important things to worry about than people saying a little bit of rubbish about me.”
