Bunnie Xo is speaking out about her baby plans after finalizing her divorce from Jelly Roll.
The Dumb Blonde podcast host, 46, appeared on Today with Jenna & Sheinelle in an episode that aired on August 20, where she confirmed she still intends to become a mother despite the end of her nearly 10-year marriage to the country star, 41. Bunnie Xo, whose real name is Alisa DeFord, did not specify whether the baby would be with her ex-husband or someone else, leaving that question unanswered.
“So I definitely still want to have a baby,” she said on the NBC morning show, “and that’s going to be one of my newest chapters of my next book, and I can’t wait for you guys to read about it because it’s been one hell of a journey, let me tell you.”
The podcaster also struck an optimistic tone about her post-divorce life. “I know when something like that that’s deeply personal happens, it’s beautifully tragic, but at the same time there’s always a silver lining, there’s always something better to look forward,” she continued on Today with Jenna & Sheinelle.
She added: “There’s so much more to talk about with me especially, and with women, than their past lovers and people in their lives.”
Bunnie Xo has been open about thriving since the split. She shared on her podcast that she has been “having the freaking time of my life” and that it is “so much fun.”
In the viral moment that first revealed their unconventional arrangement, Bunnie Xo announced on the June 18 episode of Dumb Blonde that she and Jelly Roll were separating after he filed for divorce on May 18 in Williamson County, Tennessee. Yet she stunned listeners by declaring, “We’re still having a baby.” She explained that their plan involved conceiving through IVF and using a surrogate, and that they would co-parent together. “We have been the most unconventional couple that you guys have ever encountered,” she said on the podcast. “We’re going to co-parent together.” That full episode has since been deleted, though clips remain on the show’s social media accounts.
Jelly Roll, born Jason DeFord, broke his silence about the divorce during a concert in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., on June 18. “Me and my wife are best friends, we will always be best friends,” he told the crowd. “She will probably be the only woman I’ll ever love the way I loved her.” He also shut down cheating rumors directly, stating, “Nobody cheated on nobody.”
The former couple’s divorce was finalized earlier this month, with court documents showing Jelly Roll was “awarded an absolute divorce on the grounds of irreconcilable differences.” The settlement included a one-time confidential lump sum payment to Bunnie Xo, eliminating future alimony claims, and the division of shared assets including homes, vehicles, an aircraft and intellectual property.
Bunnie Xo has since moved into a new home, showing it off in a July 17 Instagram reel with friend Matt Matthews. The property features a massive shoe closet, makeup room, wellness space and outdoor shower. She revealed on her podcast that Jelly Roll gave her the compound they had been building together as part of the settlement.
The podcaster has also addressed the emotional toll of her IVF journey. On a July 7 episode of Dumb Blonde, she recalled cruel online comments about her weight gain during fertility treatments. “As I was going through IVF, it put weight on me, and people would be like, ‘Oh, she’s bigger than her husband now,'” she shared. “You’re literally trying to make a baby with your body, and it’s like people just have no respect.”
Jelly Roll is already father to daughter Bailee Ann, 18, and son Noah Buddy, 9, from previous relationships. Bunnie Xo has been stepmother to both children throughout her marriage.
