Alleigha Botner now hates the man she once believed she loved.
Botner, 24, took the stand Wednesday in the Ohio murder trial of Caleb Flynn, 40, and told jurors her feelings for the former “American Idol” contestant had turned to loathing because she believes he murdered his wife. The onetime intern at Flynn’s church had been the married pastor’s mistress, a relationship prosecutors say supplied the motive for Ashley Flynn’s fatal shooting.
“I hate him,” Botner testified in court Wednesday. “When we were in our relationship, and I thought I was in love.”
Asked directly why her feelings had shifted so dramatically, she gave a blunt answer: “Because I believe that he murdered his wife.”
Flynn has pleaded not guilty to charges that he fatally shot Ashley Flynn inside her Ohio home in February, then staged the scene to obscure what really happened. Prosecutors have built their case around the affair between Flynn and Botner, presenting it as the driving force behind the killing.
