California McDonald’s Worker Is Gunned Down Inside Store After Shooting Female Colleague

A California McDonald’s worker who shot a female colleague was fatally shot by police after they stormed the restaurant to rescue trapped employees.

Jonhatan Anguiano, the armed employee, died at the Lodi McDonald’s on West Lodi Avenue and Church Street around 9:30 a.m. On Aug. 24, according to the Lodi Police Department. The injured coworker survived and has since returned to her job.

Officers had rushed to the restaurant after reports of an armed man in a storage area at the back of the building. Body camera footage from inside the store shows Anguiano, 21, with a gun alongside two coworkers. He pulled the weapon from his backpack and fired toward the ceiling.

The two employees continued speaking with Anguiano while someone called 911. When officers arrived, they began evacuating workers through the back entrance. They heard gunshots and learned one employee had been hit.

As the injured woman lay on the floor, an officer approached and opened fire on Anguiano, striking him. No officers were hurt during the confrontation.

Emergency crews called to the scene pronounced Anguiano dead. The wounded employee was taken to a local hospital and later released. She was initially placed on paid leave during her recovery.

Police have not identified a motive for Anguiano’s actions. The investigation remains open.
