Calese Crowder, 39, a registered sex offender with a yearslong history of alleged public butt-sniffing incidents, has been arrested again in Southern California after police said he was spotted crouched down inside businesses and apparently “sniffing someone out.”
Glendale police received the first call shortly after 3:30 p.m. Friday regarding a suspicious man lurking inside an unidentified business in the 1500 block of Glenoaks Boulevard. Officers arriving at the scene found the man crouched down in the aisles, appearing to be “sniffing someone out,” police said.
As officers were finishing up at that location, a second call came in from the Marshalls on Brand Boulevard and Broadway reporting a similar incident. Police reviewed surveillance footage from both locations and identified the suspect as Crowder.
Crowder was tracked down shortly after in the 100 block of South Brand Boulevard and arrested for allegedly violating his parole.
The arrest marks the latest in a string of bizarre allegations involving Crowder that stretches back several years. He was already on parole for similar incidents in Burbank and Glendale dating back to 2021.
In August 2025, Crowder was arrested following another alleged sniffing incident inside a Burbank store. That bust came about a month after he was arrested for similar behavior at the city’s Empire Center shopping complex.
In that earlier Empire Center case, cops were called to a Nordstrom Rack after receiving reports of a suspicious man loitering in the women’s department. Surveillance footage showed Crowder following a female shopper through the store before crouching behind her and “engaging in lewd behavior by inappropriately sniffing her buttocks,” Burbank police said. He was later found and arrested at a nearby Walmart.
In September 2025, Crowder was ordered to serve 135 days in Los Angeles County Jail after admitting that he violated his parole, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. He had been released prior to this latest arrest.
Crowder will remain behind bars until his hearing.
