Rapper Cardi B has added more piercings to her collection, unveiling two significant dermal implants to wrap up the year, following an earlier bold body modification.
At the beginning of the year, the 33-year-old ‘WAP’ singer surprised fans by revealing a diamond-studded implant on her butt crack. This revelation raised questions about hygiene and potential infection risks.
For those unfamiliar, dermal implants are piercings placed beneath the skin.
Back then, the Grammy-winning musician, whose real name is Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar, shared that the $13,000 dermal implant procedure was painless, despite the area being sensitive.
Cardi explained that a prior operation to reduce the size of her behind had left a portion of her butt ‘numb’.

Unfortunately, the implant eventually proved unsuitable for the stress placed on Cardi’s lower back. She later admitted on the Call Her Daddy podcast that it did not last over time.
This time, the ‘Bodak Yellow’ artist chose more durable locations for her new piercings, with a dermal implant on the nape of her neck and another on her lower back, positioned higher than the previous one.
Robbie Milian, a body modification artist from New York’s Refinery7 Tattoo Piercing, posted a video on Instagram showcasing Cardi’s new dermals. The video captures parts of the procedure, with Cardi expressing pain during the process.
“Loving the vibe!” Robbie commented in the video’s caption.
Cardi isn’t alone in her choice of dermal implants; North West, daughter of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, was recently seen with one on her finger.
Cardi got her new piercings last Thursday, just a month after welcoming her fourth child.
The Association of Professional Piercers advises new mothers to wait at least three months after childbirth before getting a piercing. This allows the immune system to stabilize before introducing a foreign object.

Healthline notes that piercing rejection can be affected by various factors, including placement and the jewelry’s size, shape, and material.
In addition to her new piercing, Cardi has had her umbilical cord transformed into a necklace.
After the birth of her son with boyfriend Stefon Diggs, she gave the placenta to Mommy Made Encapsulation. The company shared a video of the transformation on Instagram.
In the video, they are seen crafting the dyed blue umbilical cord into a heart shape with wire, dehydrating it, and coating it in gold.
Another clip reveals she also opted for a placenta print.
