The legal team representing Cassie Ventura has made a statement regarding the recent verdict in the case involving Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, who has been convicted on two out of five charges.
The jury reached their decision on Wednesday afternoon after a trial that lasted two months and captured significant public attention.
The charges against Combs included racketeering conspiracy, along with two counts each of sex trafficking and transportation for the purpose of engaging in prostitution.
In the verdict, Combs was found guilty on counts 3 and 5, while being acquitted of the remaining charges.
In response to the outcome, Cassie’s attorney, Douglas H Wigdor, spoke to Sky News: “This entire criminal process started when our client Cassie Ventura had the courage to file her civil complaint in November 2023.”
He added, “Although the jury did not find Combs guilty of sex trafficking Cassie beyond a reasonable doubt, she paved the way for a jury to find him guilty of transportation to engage in prostitution.”
By sharing her story, Cassie has made a significant impact on the entertainment industry and the pursuit of justice.
Wigdor emphasized, “We must repeat – with no reservation – that we believe and support our client, who showed exemplary courage throughout this trial.”
Cassie, who testified while heavily pregnant, had been involved in a decade-long on-and-off relationship with Combs.
During her testimony earlier this year, she recounted her experiences at alleged ‘freak off’ parties and described the mistreatment she claims to have endured from Combs.
Breaking down in tears on the witness stand, Cassie explained her decision to testify: “I can’t carry this anymore,” she said, according to Sky News. “I can’t carry the shame, the guilt, the way he treated people like they were disposable.”
Combs was apprehended at the Park Hyatt hotel in Manhattan on September 16, 2024, following a grand jury indictment.
His attorney, Marc Agnifilo, asserted that Combs cooperated with law enforcement and willingly moved to New York City in preparation for the legal proceedings.
Agnifilo stated at the time, “These are the acts of an innocent man with nothing to hide, and he looks forward to clearing his name in court.”
