Celebrities Stranded in the Caribbean Amid Trump Invasion and Maduro’s Detention

A number of individuals, including some well-known celebrities, found themselves trapped in the Caribbean following a United States military strike on Venezuela.

The US military launched airstrikes on Caracas, the capital of Venezuela, and detained President Nicolás Maduro, who now faces criminal charges in New York.

These military actions have caused significant disruptions to the Caribbean airspace, resulting in grounded flights.

US Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy stated that airspace over several nations, including Haiti, Cuba, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, and the Dominican Republic, was closed as of Saturday night.

This decision led to both commercial and private flights being halted in the area.

Consequently, many tourists in the region, including several Hollywood celebrities, have been left stranded.

Which Hollywood stars are currently unable to leave?

According to Page Six, Natalie Portman has reportedly been unable to reach a film set while vacationing in the Caribbean.

Other notable individuals affected include rapper Queen Latifah and model Ming Lee Simmons, who are also unable to depart.

Adding to the list, former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson is reportedly trapped due to the airspace closure.

Leonardo DiCaprio experienced disruptions as well, but managed to leave St. Barts in time to attend the Critics Choice Awards on Sunday night, where Chelsea Handler humorously remarked: “It was just like the Titanic, but worse … because Jeff Bezos was there.”

It’s not only celebrities who have been impacted; numerous US tourists vacationing in the Caribbean have also been hindered.

Among the affected is Billy Gunther and his wife, who are newlyweds from Florida. While staying in Puerto Rico, they discovered their flight home was canceled.

“So, you have a lot of people who are anxious, that they don’t know when they’re going to come home,” Gunther explained to ABC affiliate WZVN in Naples, Florida.

At Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in Puerto Rico, approximately 29 flights were canceled on Sunday.

This was a significant decrease compared to Saturday, which saw about 400 flights canceled.

In a post on social media, US Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy announced that the Caribbean airspace restrictions would be lifted at midnight Eastern time on Sunday.
