Celine Dion Snubbed From Rolling Stone’s 200 Greatest Singers List

Rolling Stone has come under fire after leaving off Celine Dion from their newly released 200 Greatest Singers Of All Time list.

The Canadian singer, who has been known for her powerful and technically skilled vocals, and has sold over 200 million records worldwide, has been met with outrage from fans due to the change in criteria.

Despite her decades in the limelight, Dion was snubbed from the roster of artists.

The Rolling Stone’s updated list of the “Greatest Singers of All Time” has been released and the top 10 is filled with soul and R&B icons. Aretha Franklin earned the number one spot, with Whitney Houston, Sam Cooke, Billie Holiday, and Mariah Carey following closely behind.

Other top 10 placements include Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, Beyonce, Otis Redding, and Al Green.

Notably absent from the list is Celine Dion who many felt should have made the cut. The next 10 spots on the list feature a mix of rock and pop singers including Little Richard, John Lennon, Patsy Cline, Freddie Mercury, Bob Dylan, Prince, Elvis Presley, Celia Cruz, Frank Sinatra, and Marvin Gaye.

While some may not agree with the Rolling Stone’s criteria for the updated list, fans will undoubtedly continue to debate who should have been included.

. While the list was created to highlight the greatest singers, readers were reminded to keep in mind that this is not the Greatest Voices List. It appears the magazine based their decision on factors such as originality, influence, the depth of an artist’s catalog, and the breadth of their musical legacy.

Dion, who was left off the list, has not publicly responded.
