Tito Jackson shared a heartfelt Instagram post shortly before his passing.
It was reported yesterday (September 15) that the Jackson 5 star has died at the age of 70.
Tito’s death came as a surprise to his family. His children released a touching statement online to announce the news.
His sons TJ, Taj, and Taryll wrote on Instagram: “It’s with heavy hearts that we announce that our beloved father, Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Tito Jackson is no longer with us.”
“We are shocked, saddened and heartbroken. Our father was an incredible man who cared about everyone and their well-being.”
Based on Tito’s social media activity, it appeared he was still performing shortly before his death. He had recently visited Munich, Germany, with his siblings Jackie, Jermaine, and Marlon.
During their visit, the band stopped by a mural dedicated to their late brother and Jackson 5 bandmate Michael.
Sharing a photo of them at the mural, Tito – whose full name was Toriano Adaryll Jackson – wrote on Instagram four days ago: “Before our show in Munich, my brothers Jackie, Marlon, and I, visited the beautiful memorial dedicated to our beloved brother, Michael Jackson.”
“We’re deeply grateful for this special place that honors not only his memory but also our shared legacy. Thank you for keeping his spirit alive.”
Many have expressed their condolences to Tito’s family following his death.
“Sending condolences from my family to your family,” someone commented on his sons’ social media post. “Your Father was a great man, who will be missed and loved forever. Blessings always.”
“So sorry for your loss. He’s dancing with Michael again,” said another.
A third person added: “Praying for you all. So sorry for your profound loss. Heartbreaking news.”
Another wrote: “My condolences to the family. Had the honor to meet him back in 2019, a great person. May he rest in peace.”
The official cause of Tito’s death has not yet been confirmed. However, Steve Manning, a friend of Tito and former Jackson family manager, told Entertainment Tonight that he suspects Tito died from a heart attack while driving from New Mexico to Oklahoma.
Tito and his siblings had upcoming performances scheduled in Atlantic City and Cincinnati next month, but it’s likely these shows will be canceled in the wake of his unexpected passing.
