A woman was left stunned when her husband confessed something he’d previously denied.
In 2022, Richard Allen was interrogated by authorities in connection to the 2017 slayings of teenage best friends Abby Williams and Libby German.
The two young girls, ages 13 and 14, went for a hike near the Monon High Bridge over Deer Creek in Delphi, Indiana, but never returned home.
A day later, their bodies were discovered, both with their throats cut.
Their tragic deaths led to a nationwide hunt for the murderer, leaving the case unsolved for half a decade.
Before their deaths, Libby managed to capture a video of Abby on a bridge, which included a man walking behind her. This individual came to be referred to as ‘Bridge Man,’ and authorities sought public assistance in identifying him.
It was not until a misplaced tip was discovered by police that they were able to connect Allen to the man seen in the footage.
On October 31, 2022, he was charged with two counts of murder. Although Allen maintained his innocence, he was convicted in December 2024 and received a 130-year prison sentence (65 years for each murder, to be served consecutively).
Recently, following his sentencing, law enforcement released new footage from Allen’s interrogation.
One particular video captures the moment Allen’s long-time spouse, Kathy, discovered her husband had misled her about his activities on the day of the tragic events.
In the footage, Allen informs Kathy that the police were implying that she believed he was guilty.
Kathy stated that investigators claimed a bullet found near Abby and Libby’s bodies matched a gun owned by her husband. When questioned, Allen claimed ignorance.
The conversation then shifted to his presence on the bridge.
“Were you on the bridge?” Kathy asked.
“I told them I was on the bridge. I went out to the first trestle,” Allen replied.
Becoming emotional, Kathy mentioned that she didn’t remember him telling her about this, and she informed law enforcement that he wasn’t on the bridge.
“Hun, you’re not in any trouble,” Allen reassured her.
Despite inconsistencies in Allen’s alibi, Kathy supported him throughout the murder trial.
Allen’s legal team is currently in the process of appealing the guilty verdict handed down by the jury.
