Chilling video shows driver trying to run over couple and their dog at LA park

A Los Angeles couple has spoken out after a rageful driver allegedly tried to run them over along with their dog at a Mid-Wilshire park.

Celine and her fiancé Logan were walking their dog Olive near Harold A. Henry Park last Wednesday evening when the terrifying encounter unfolded, according to footage captured by an Uber driver’s dashcam and interviews the couple gave to ABC 7. The video shows an orange car pursuing the pair onto park grass after a verbal exchange at a stop sign.

“I just run straight on the grass as far back as I can, I look back and I see his car like right behind me,” Celine said 7.

The incident allegedly began when the couple motioned for the driver to proceed at a stop sign so they could cross the street. “We weren’t paying attention because we were on the phone. We thought he was just going to drive through, and then I hear him yell, ‘What, you don’t speak effing English?'” Celine said.

The car then charged at them. Video shows the vehicle making a sharp left turn from the stop sign toward the couple and driving through the grass before eventually leaving the park off a curb.

Logan said when the car charged at them, he pulled Olive out of the way and was “barely missed” by the vehicle.

“It all happened in a matter of seconds, but it was definitely one of the craziest things that’s ever happened to us,” he added.

As the driver was leaving, he allegedly made a parting remark. “Bet your effing scared now, huh?” The driver said, according to Celine.

Bystanders at the park said 7 they witnessed the entire incident. “I just see them running toward the park, and the car came up on the curve like very crazy and then he drove away,” Sequoia Hugee, who was at the park with her dog, said.

The couple reported the incident to the Los Angeles Police Department. A spokesperson for the department said Saturday it had no update on the incident.

In the viral moment that preceded the driver’s alleged attack, the couple had simply been trying to cross the street after letting the orange car pass at a stop sign. The gesture appeared to enrage the driver, who escalated from a shouted insult to allegedly attempting to strike them with his vehicle, sending them fleeing onto park grass with their dog.

The LAPD has not identified the driver or announced any arrests in connection with the incident.
