Chris Hemsworth Shares Health Update Following Alzheimer’s Revelation

Chris Hemsworth offers a glimpse into his thoughts on potentially developing Alzheimer’s in his latest documentary.

In a recent documentary, Chris Hemsworth discusses his health while reflecting on his father’s current health challenges.

The documentary, Chris Hemsworth: A Road Trip to Remember, follows Chris on a journey through Australia with his father, Craig Hemsworth, who is in the early stages of Alzheimer’s. The trip aims to strengthen Craig’s memory by revisiting familiar places.

In the film, Dr. Suraj Samtani explains the potential benefits of this approach, stating: “We know that revisiting past experiences by talking to someone about it, even using objects from the past or places from the past is a great way to boost our cognition.”

The documentary, released on November 23, 2025, features Hemsworth sharing his thoughts on potentially developing Alzheimer’s, as his father has.

He stated: “This has become a very prominent conversation in my world, because I also have two copies of the gene that puts me in a higher-risk category for Alzheimer’s.

“But it’s not a problem at this point, and it may never be. So I’m far more focused on my dad right now.”

Chris first revealed his genetic predisposition to Alzheimer’s disease a few years ago, despite not currently showing any symptoms.

He discovered this in 2022 during the filming of his Discovery+ series Limitless, which explored methods to improve longevity.

His genetic analysis showed two copies of the APOE4 gene, inherited from both parents, which has been linked to a higher risk of Alzheimer’s in studies.

Following the revelation, the 42-year-old actor took a break from acting, which led to speculation about his retirement.

Hemsworth clarified that his break was planned to spend more time with his family, not due to the genetic discovery.

In a Vanity Fair interview, he expressed frustration over the rumors.

He said: “It really kind of pissed me off because it felt like I had been vulnerable with something personal and shared this.

“No matter how much I said ‘This is not a death sentence,’ the story became that I have dementia and I’m reconsidering life and retiring and so on.”
