Chris Hemsworth Struggles to Forgive Himself for a Particular Film After Getting ‘Caught Up’

When Hollywood actors discuss their most memorable roles or performances, they usually offer praise or excitement.

However, Chris Hemsworth has been candid about a particular role where he feels his performance wasn’t his best.

Famous for portraying Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Hemsworth gained recognition for his role as the Norse God in the four-film series.

The latest installment, Thor: Love and Thunder, released in 2022, stands out as a film Hemsworth doesn’t feel entirely proud of.

Despite Hemsworth’s reservations, the film was a major success, grossing $760 million worldwide.

It boasts an impressive 76 percent audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, indicating a generally positive reception among viewers, though critics gave it a moderate 64% score.

Tom Shone of The Times commented: “Not just the best Marvel movie yet made, but a bona fide camp comedy classic: fast, bright, gaudy, prickly, antic and fun.”

John Serba from Decider added: “As visually memorable as the sequence can be, narratively, it’s wet spaghetti flung at the plaster and wacky-wallwalking its way to the floor.”

Despite these accolades, Hemsworth expressed his dissatisfaction with the fourth film in an interview with Vanity Fair. He admitted, “I got caught up in the improv and the wackiness, I became a parody of myself. I didn’t stick the landing.”

Hemsworth acknowledged that in Thor: Love and Thunder, he turned into a parody of himself, although he managed to incorporate his unique style in Thor: Ragnarok.

Away from his acting career, Hemsworth has shared insights about his family life, including why his young son doesn’t call him dad.

During a family vacation, Hemsworth shared on Instagram: “My son wanted to catch a fish for the locals in Fiji and after 3 attempts and about 12 hrs at sea we pulled in this beauty. Fed the village for 3 days.”

The post included a video of the fishing trip, where one of his nine-year-old twin sons, Sasha or Tristan, is heard saying: “Come on, Chris! Keep on fighting it.”

Hemsworth explained in the caption why his son called him by his first name, writing: “Ps if you’re wondering why my son calls me Chris it’s because I’m his BFF and true mates don’t call each other dad.”
