Chris Noth, known for his role in Sex and the City, recently retracted a sharp comment he directed at his former co-star Sarah Jessica Parker. The remark drew criticism from fans who found it unnecessary.
This incident began after Parker was honored with the Carol Burnett award at the Golden Globes on January 6, shortly before the awards ceremony on January 12.
While many of Parker’s colleagues quickly congratulated her, Noth initially remained silent about her accolade.
On January 9, Noth posted a gym photo captioned: “F&@k new years – LETS GO!!!!”
In response, a follower commented: “You mean fcuk sjp & her award right? lol,” to which Noth replied: “Right.”
Another user inquired, “What’d I miss,” while a third commented, “He’s just bitter that they [wrote] him off the show.”
Fans were not pleased with Noth’s response, viewing it as an unkind reaction to Parker’s achievement. After facing backlash, Noth addressed the situation, calling his reply an ‘off the cuff’ remark.

On Instagram, Noth explained: “My off the cuff slightly sarcastic response to a comment on the internet seems to have caused a tempest in a teapot.”
“It is not news. It is not worth all this discussion. It is a waste of time in a world where there are more important things to worry about.”
Following his clarification, some supporters praised Noth for addressing the comment, describing him as a ‘class act,’ while others felt an apology was unnecessary.
Many fans sided with Noth, feeling he was justified in his feelings given his character Mr. Big’s significant role in the success of SATC.
Noth and Parker co-starred as Mr. Big and Carrie Bradshaw in Sex and the City from 1998 to 2004, followed by two films.
In the sequel series And Just Like That, their characters were married and living in New York City, but Mr. Big was killed off to add drama to Carrie’s storyline.

However, Noth’s final scenes were omitted from the series after he faced accusations of sexual assault.
Two women accused Noth of assaulting them in Los Angeles in 2004 and New York City in 2015.
Noth denied these allegations, stating: “The accusations against me made by individuals I met years, even decades, ago are categorically false. These stories could’ve been from 30 years ago or 30 days ago—no always means no—that is a line I did not cross. The encounters were consensual.”
Despite their on-screen relationship, Parker severed ties with Noth following the allegations.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Parker confirmed, saying ‘No,’ when asked if she had been in contact with Noth since the allegations surfaced in December 2021.
