Christina Ricci had a pointed response after Andrew Tate posted a message from jail claiming the inmate next to him in solitary confinement “is a cannibal”.
Tate and his brother Tristan were arrested in Miami on July 18 after British authorities sought their extradition on a fresh set of rape and sex trafficking allegations. Prosecutors in the UK say the brothers now face 38 new charges between them, bringing the total number of counts to 59, and the case is linked to alleged offences said to have taken place between July 2010 and August 2017.
The Crown Prosecution Service said Andrew Tate is facing seven additional rape charges, alongside allegations involving sex trafficking and indecent images of a child. Tristan Tate has been charged with sexual assault, two counts of rape, and three counts of arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation.
According to prosecutors, the accusations relate to an alleged period spanning July 2010 to August 2017. Both brothers deny all wrongdoing.
They remain in custody in Florida while the extradition process continues, and Andrew Tate has continued posting updates on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.
“I am being held in the highest level of security which exists. No commissary. No visits. No contact with the outside world. My neighbor is a cannibal who screams throughout the night.”
The post did not attract much sympathy online. Among those who reacted was Casper star Christina Ricci, whose reply has been widely shared.
After Tate’s comment was reposted on Threads, Ricci answered with a brief remark.
“I feel better thanks!”
Tate’s post also picked up a community note that quickly drew attention.
“Posting on social media is contact with the outside world.”
Social media users also questioned how Tate was able to post while being held. Some speculated that messages were being relayed through his legal team and uploaded on his behalf, though that has not been confirmed.
Following the arrests, attorney Joseph McBride, who is representing the brothers, issued a statement defending them.
“We are confident that once a competent judge sees the facts, and once the Department of Justice confronts this egregious abuse of its own authority, Andrew and Tristan Tate will walk free. America does not do Britain’s political dirty work.”
He also said that “the world knows Andrew and Tristan are innocent”.
Ricci has built a reputation for being direct on social media, and this is not the first time one of her short responses has gained traction.
She also previously weighed in on Joe Rogan, whose podcast has repeatedly faced criticism over controversial and misleading claims.
