Cindy Crawford spoke about the pride she took in her children’s closeness during a family shoot just months before Presley Gerber’s death.
The supermodel, 60, made the comments in a May interview while promoting the Gerber family’s Spring 2025 campaign with activewear brand Vuori. Crawford appeared alongside her husband Rande Gerber, 64, and their two children, Presley and Kaia Gerber, for the collaboration.
“Nothing makes, I think, a parent prouder than when your kids like each other and love each other,” Crawford said at the time.
The shoot marked a rare professional moment for the entire family unit. Crawford described the experience as “amazing” and noted that while they had done family pictures before, this was different.
“I mean, obviously, we’ve done family pictures before, but being on a real shoot. I think my husband and I just had … first of all, we got to spend a day with our kids, which we love. But it was extra special,” she explained.
The model also found unexpected value in hearing her children’s recorded reflections on their parents.
“It’s not often that you have that recorded and hear that, hearing what your kids have to say about you,” Crawford added. “If it’s good, [it] is so nice.”
Presley died Sunday at an undisclosed rehab facility in California, according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner. He was 27. A cause of death has not yet been revealed.
The tragedy came after years of public struggle with addiction and mental health challenges that Presley had increasingly addressed with candor. In March, he posted to Instagram about his efforts toward recovery.
“started finding my way back,” Presley wrote, using lowercase letters as he often did on the platform. “We shall see. Praying it’s the last time I have to come back [to treatment]. Next time I’d like to choose.”
Kaia, 23, had publicly supported her brother’s transparency about his difficulties. In her September cover story for Vogue, she called Presley the “greatest teacher” and credited him with showing her “there’s only so much you can hide from the world.”
The actress and model also examined how Presley’s addiction reshaped her own behavior within the family dynamic.
“When something like that happens … it kind of levels everyone,” Kaia told the magazine. “I think that’s also why I started to self-identify as the easy one and never wanted to ask for help.”
Kaia drew a sharp contrast between her brother’s openness and the approach their famous parents had long maintained. Crawford and Rande Gerber were “very, very private and didn’t share anything … for most of [their] lives,” she noted.
Presley’s March Instagram post represented a shift in how he discussed his recovery journey publicly. His message about wanting to “choose” his path forward rather than return to treatment again has taken on added weight in the wake of his death.
The Gerber family had presented a united front during the Vuori campaign, with Crawford emphasizing the joy of working alongside both children. The May interview now stands as one of her final public reflections on the bond between Presley and Kaia.
Crawford has not yet issued a public statement following her son’s death. The family has maintained privacy around the circumstances, with the Medical Examiner’s office listing the rehab facility location as undisclosed.
Kaia was seen in Los Angeles on Tuesday, two days after her brother’s death was reported.
