On Monday the skies over Madeira, Portugal, darkened and a brilliant sunset illuminated an incredibly unusual cloud formation, causing social media users to compare it to the “hand of God”.

The man who snapped these shots, Rogeria Pacheco, said, “For me, the cloud looks like an outstretched hand with a fireball.”
“As soon as I saw the sky, I was immediately intrigued,” he added. Rogerio’s photos caused a storm online with all kinds of speculations as to the appearance of the cloud.
Some are saying the cloud looks like a comet from the Final Fantasy game franchise.
But experts are saying that these 100% normal clouds are actually demonstrating pareidolia, the tendency for humans to spot familiar things in natural formations — like the man in the moon.
It looks more like a wooden spoon to us anyway.
