Earlier this week, Donald Trump’s return as President to the White House also marked the reappearance of the famous Coca-Cola button.
President Trump’s time in the Oval Office has just begun again, yet within 48 hours, he has already signed several executive orders. These include a policy asserting ‘only two genders’ and a decision to withdraw from the World Health Organization.
While implementing his policies, Trump has chosen to reinstate a familiar feature from his first presidency.
The button that summons a Diet Coke to his desk is back on the Oval Office’s Resolute desk, enabling him to have the soda delivered with the press of a button.
According to The Wall Street Journal, the button to summon a Diet Coke is operational again, indicating Trump’s continued fondness for the soda has not diminished since his first term.
In 2018, during Trump’s previous presidency, a report by the New York Times mentioned that he consumed around a dozen Diet Coke cans each day.
Just thinking about consuming that amount is quite overwhelming.
The Mayo Clinic suggests that drinking 12 cans of Coca-Cola daily exceeds the ‘safe amount’ of caffeine consumption for adults by two cans.
The health experts there warn that excessive caffeine intake can result in an irregular heartbeat, sleeplessness, and anxiety.
Although excessive Diet Coke consumption isn’t particularly healthy, nutritionist Lisa Drayer observes it could be worse if he drank regular soda.
“I still think it’s a better choice than sugary sodas,” Drayer told CNN.
“If he drank regular soda, he would be adding an additional 1,680 calories and a significant 468 grams of sugar just from this beverage alone!”
Trump’s Coca-Cola habit was highlighted again by health expert Craig Brockie on Twitter.
Brockie detailed how Trump sleeps about four to five hours nightly and consumes 12 cans of Coke each day.
“12 diet cokes daily is WILD,” remarked one individual upon learning this fact.
It’s important to remember that the report stating Trump’s soda intake is from 2018, so the current situation may be different.
However, Trump’s decision to reinstall the Coca-Cola button during his first week back suggests he remains a fan.
