Cole Tomas Allen, 31, is facing three charges after allegedly entering the Washington Hilton Hotel on Saturday night (April 25) and firing a weapon.
Attendees at the annual dinner for members of the press and the presidential administration were thrown into panic when gunshots were heard. Authorities say the suspect ran past security while carrying a shotgun, a handgun, and several knives.

He has since appeared in court in Washington, DC, where prosecutors filed three counts against him.
The charges include attempting to assassinate the President of the United States, using a firearm during a crime of violence, and transporting a firearm in interstate commerce with intent to commit a felony.
