Colin Farrell recently made headlines by discussing what he found appealing about working with Margot Robbie on their new film.
The duo stars in the romantic fantasy film, A Big Bold Beautiful Journey, which is set to premiere in theaters on September 19.
The storyline follows two strangers who meet at a wedding. They have the chance to revisit significant moments from their past, which helps clarify their present and offers the opportunity to alter their future.
During a joint appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers, the 49-year-old actor shared his experience working with Robbie. He mentioned that before meeting her, he heard high praises about the Australian star from others in the industry.
“You hear things through the years, ’cause as you know yourself, it’s a fairly small industry,” he said. “So I met people through the years that worked with Margot… and they all, [men and women], said how extraordinary she was.”
The Irish actor continued, “Not just it’s obvious that she’s an incredible actress, but how kind and fun and how just ‘one of the team’ she is. Which is always a turn-on for me. … Straight up!”
Farrell further described working alongside Robbie as ‘really easy’ and characterized the experience as ‘a dream’ from beginning to end.
Fans have responded positively to Farrell’s enthusiasm for Robbie, with comments like: “The energy and banter made me cheeks a bit sore from smiling.”

Regarding the film, Robbie revealed she was attracted to A Big Bold Beautiful Journey due to its uniqueness, stating: “It felt really original and magical and romantic.”
“The movie starts, and it’s like a meet-cute at a wedding, and then it turns into like this road trip movie, and then it gets a little emotional … It kept surprising me,” she explained.
She praised the script as ‘exquisite’ and expressed her desire to participate in a love story, humorously adding: “I would obviously love to do a love story with Colin Farrell.”
In an interview with Variety, Farrell expressed his excitement about finally collaborating with her, mentioning that she had been described as ‘a mensch’.
“She’s the loveliest person, she’s fun,” he enthused. “She’s obviously a brilliant actress, but they didn’t say that because that is stating the obvious, and the other stuff I didn’t know, and all of it was very true and then some.”
This film is Robbie’s first project since her massive success with Barbie in 2023, where she starred and produced through her company, LuckyChap. It is also her first major role since becoming a mother last year.
Farrell seems thrilled to discuss his time on set with Robbie, with the pair sharing clear mutual respect and admiration both on and off the screen.
