Peyton Blomquist has identified herself as the Florida student who went viral after a broadcast camera lingered on her during Saturday’s college football game.
The University of Florida freshman, who is studying nutritional sciences, took to Instagram on September 27 to confirm she was the spectator viewers spotted in the stands. Blomquist, a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority, posted a carousel of six images and a video that included a screenshot of the televised moment alongside her own photos from the matchup.
Her caption was brief and playful: “Work the cut.” The post showed her wearing the same outfit seen in the broadcast clip that had circulated widely online.
The original footage captured attention for its unusual duration. During the second half of the contest between No. 21 Florida and No. 4 Ole Miss, with the Gators leading 31-21, a camera operator directed focus away from the field and onto Blomquist in the crowd. The shot held for roughly five seconds, slowly tightening on her as she glanced at her watch before looking up toward the action.
Social media users quickly dissected the moment. Some speculated the clip had been reversed to create the zooming effect. Others offered alternate theories about the camerawork, with one person noting that a nearby spectator in a backward hat appeared to notice the camera first and deliberately looked away, suggesting the operator had already selected the shot, recorded it, then pulled back to appear less conspicuous.
Blomquist’s Instagram following surged in the aftermath. At the time her identifying post went live, she had accumulated 36.1 thousand followers.
The game itself delivered a significant result for Florida. The Gators defeated Ole Miss 52-28, marking their first victory over a top-five opponent since 2018, when they beat No. 5 LSU. Running backs Jadan Baugh and Duke Clark powered the ground attack with a combined 268 rushing yards on 41 carries.
Florida coach Jon Sumrall addressed the team’s trajectory in remarks quoted by ESPN WRUF. “It’s not asleep, but it ain’t fully awake yet. It’s being stirred up a little bit. So we’re going to get there […] I promise you, I didn’t come here for us to be average.”
Blomquist’s social media presence prior to the moment offered glimpses of typical college life. A post from the previous month showed her celebrating a friend’s 21st birthday and what she termed “hard launching” her sorority involvement.
The broadcast incident added an unexpected footnote to a lopsided Florida victory, with online attention shifting from the scoreboard to the stands for one extended shot that Blomquist has now claimed as her own.
