Comedian Matt Rife stunned his fans with the news that he has acquired the famous haunted house that served as the inspiration for the horror franchises The Conjuring and Annabelle.
The 29-year-old comedian has invested in purchasing Ed and Lorraine Warren’s residence, the legendary paranormal investigators whose work inspired The Conjuring series, alongside his business associate.
If this scenario were unfolding on our television screens, we’d likely be shouting at the TV for him to reconsider the decision, especially to avoid the site in Monroe, Connecticut, which houses the original Annabelle doll.
In a post to his 10 million Instagram followers, he announced: “Hey guys, super random but incredible announcement. I have just bought the Ed and Lorraine Warren’s home and Occult Museum with my very good friend Elton Castee.”
He continued, “If you guys have ever seen any of the Conjuring films, the Annabelle films or even Amityville Horror, this is the home that inspired all of those stories.”
“This might be the most important and prominent piece of paranormal history in the world. Ed and Lorraine Warren are who took demonology, and ghost hunting, and paranormal investigation and made it mainstream.”
He further explained, “Now, I know a lot of you guys don’t know what any of this means whatsoever, but if you follow ghost stuff, this is about as big as it gets.”
“So what does this all mean? It means that Elton Castee and myself are the owners of the physical, Ed Lorraine Warren’s home and occult museum.”
Rife elaborated that he and his business partner will serve as the ‘legal guardians and caretakers’ of the 750 haunted artifacts within the house for the next five years, which includes the notorious Annabelle doll.
While Rife does not technically own the items, he hopes to welcome horror enthusiasts and dark tourists from all over the world to the haunted location.
Rife added, “And what this means for you guys is you are going to soon be able to book a night or a weekend and stay at the Warrens’ house and investigate the house and the history of the house, as well as the museum and all the artifacts inside of it.”
“This is the most random hobby ever, but it’s so f*cking cool man. I should probably collect stamps or something – might be a little safer. But yeah, we own the house and we are very excited for you guys to see it.”
Personally, I might stick to collecting Panini stickers, although it’s been quite a while since I’ve done that!
