‘Compelling’ Netflix Series With Perfect Rotten Tomatoes Score Climbs Most-Watched Charts Rapidly

Netflix viewers have propelled a newly-released TV series into the platform’s most-watched charts shortly after its debut.

If you’re searching for something fresh to watch, the streaming service’s periodic updates to its library are a welcome change.

Although it sometimes means saying goodbye to some old favorites, the Netflix updates also introduce us to shows we might not have considered before.

This particular British action drama has received a perfect ’10/10′ from Rotten Tomatoes critics, with fans likening it to a Christopher Nolan film.

That certainly piques my interest.

The series features Paapa Essiedu from Gangs of London, playing George Addo, a tech entrepreneur who feels he’s losing his grip on reality.

The reason? He finds himself experiencing the same day repeatedly.

This changes when a mysterious figure named Archie (Anjli Mohindra) presents him with a crucial piece of the puzzle: a secret organization that can reset time in the face of global extinction-level events. George turns out to be among the few who can remember these resets.

Initially, George is enthusiastic about his new role in averting global disasters. However, when a personal loss occurs, he starts to question the ethical implications of the organization’s activities.

The series is called The Lazarus Project and has achieved a 100 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with critics calling it ‘an imaginative, addictive watch’.

Since its release on Netflix US on Monday (July 28), the show climbed to number five in the Top 10 TV shows charts by Wednesday (July 30).

This is indeed a swift ascent to success.

On Rotten Tomatoes, critics have praised the series highly,

Judy Berman of TIME Magazine commented: “It’s all as fun to watch as it is compelling to consider.”

Cristina Escobar from RogerEbert.com wrote: “The Lazarus Project has it all- a thoughtful exploration of moral questions, time traveling (of sorts), and plenty of suspense.”

Fans have given the show an average score of 77 percent based on more than 100 reviews.

While this is slightly lower than the critics’ rating, those who enjoyed the show drew comparisons to a Christopher Nolan production.

“This show is like if Christopher Nolan decided to make a series,” one viewer noted, adding, “Okay, so maybe not quite that level, but it’s getting there.”

“I have no idea how somebody can imagine a story so intricate. I love it.”

“If you find most TV predictable and uninspiring, then prepare to be excited.”

Another social media user remarked: “Well-paced creative approach to sci-fi staple. Character development is just right in the first episode, allows connection while also leaving room for plenty of action.”

Both seasons of The Lazarus Project are now available for streaming on Netflix in the US and on NOW in the UK.
