A YouTuber has uncovered shocking information after obtaining two smartphones from North Korea.
Mrwhosetheboss, who has nearly 22 million subscribers on YouTube, has raised concerns among his followers for his safety after releasing a recent video.
In the latest video, YouTube creator Arun Maini, also known as Mrwhosetheboss, delved into two North Korean smartphones in a video titled ‘Testing North Korea’s illegal smartphones.’
The video showcases Arun examining the Hayyang 701 and the Samtaesung 8, devices that serve as North Korea’s own versions of the Samsung Galaxy.
While experimenting with the phones, Arun quickly realized the extent of censorship present in North Korean mobile technology.

For instance, when he attempted to search for South Korea on the Hayyang phone, it was automatically changed to ‘puppet state.’
According to Arun, this indicates “just how committed North Korea’s government is [in] sustaining its narrative that South Korea is the inferior, less individual country that just blindly follows whatever the US asks them to.”
Arun also tried to connect the devices to WiFi. On the Hayyang, there was a WiFi button, but pressing it led to no action, while the Samtaesung lacked a WiFi button entirely.
Instead, both devices could only connect to an Intranet.
“This still doesn’t get you onto the internet,” he explained. “There’s actually no way for a North Korean citizen to do that.”
Arun noted that this Intranet only allows access to “government approved TV, news, and propaganda apps.”
To access the Intranet, known as Mirae, users must provide extensive personal information, including their government ID.
Following the revelation of the censorship experienced by North Koreans, viewers expressed concern for the YouTuber’s safety.
“Bro is now the top of the most wanted list of North Korea,” commented one viewer.
Another joked: “Arun’s next video gonna be titled: ‘So… I moved to an undisclosed bunker.'”
“If he stops uploading we all know the reason,” echoed another comment.
“Ok so if he mysteriously disappears we now know why,” agreed yet another viewer.
Someone else remarked that Arun was “risking his life for this content.”
Many others commented on the “absurdity” of the North Korean smartphones and how the country maintains strict control over its citizens.
