The “Fifty Shades of Grey” actress, 36, deflected direct questions about her dating status during a new Vogue interview, offering only a playful tease about her continued attraction to musicians. Johnson, who parted ways with Coldplay frontman Chris Martin last year after an eight-year relationship, has since been the subject of speculation linking her to Machine Gun Kelly.
“They like me. I don’t know what to say, and I like them,” Johnson replied when the Vogue interviewer noted she knows plenty of musicians, following her discussion about directing more music videos after helming Coldplay’s “Cry Cry Cry” in 2020. When pressed with “What’s not to like,” she fired back that there was “a lot.”
The exchange marks one of the few times Johnson has addressed her love life since the Martin split. She initially told the publication she “didn’t want to say anything about that” when asked directly about her current romantic situation.
Rumors of a connection with Machine Gun Kelly, 34, whose real name is Colson Baker, began circulating after the pair reportedly hit it off at Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding. A source said the two have been “hanging out and seeing each other under the radar for months.” The same source claimed “they haven’t put a label on their relationship yet,” adding that “they’re seeing where the time they spend together will take them.”
Before the MGK speculation, Johnson was briefly linked to Role Model, real name Tucker Pillsbury, after they were spotted together on several occasions, though neither party confirmed anything publicly.
Johnson’s romantic history includes a two-year relationship with “Last Man Standing” actor Jordan Masterson, followed by a stint with model and musician Matthew Hitt, whom Vogue notes she was dating during her first magazine cover appearance in 2015.
Beyond romance, the interview touched on Johnson’s personal hopes for the future. She opened up about wanting children, telling Vogue she “didn’t expect to be this age and at this place in my life,” She continued, “But for whatever reason, that’s the plan of the universe,” adding that she “really hopes it happens for me.”
The actress also previously detailed her “biggest red flag” in men during a Vogue Germany interview, declaring she can’t stand “man who wear flip flops in public.”
