Dax Shepard surprised by wife Kristen Bell’s on-screen chemistry with co-star in latest Netflix series

Dax Shepard has confessed to being taken aback by the on-screen chemistry between his wife Kristen Bell and her co-star in Netflix’s newest romance series.

While everyone understands that acting is just that, it can still be challenging to watch your partner get close to someone else on-screen.

Shepard recently went through this experience due to Bell’s role alongside Adam Brody in the Netflix romantic comedy, “Nobody Wants This.”

The series centers on Joanne (played by Bell), a sex podcaster who develops feelings for newly single rabbi Noah (Brody). The show, which also features Justine Lupe, Jackie Tohn, and Timothy Simons, debuted on the popular streaming service last month.

In “Nobody Wants This,” Bell and Brody’s characters create a notable romantic connection, which Shepard was asked about at the New Yorker Festival on Saturday, October 26.

According to People, Shepard was questioned about the ‘amazing chemistry’ he shares with his wife, leading to a rather unexpected response from the actor and comedian.

“Not as good as her and Brody,” Shepard candidly remarked to the surprised reporters.

Discussing an on-screen kiss between Bell and Brody, Shepard added: “My friend … we watched that scene together, the kissing scene, which I’d argue is the very best kissing scene ever, ever put on film.

“And my best friend, Aaron, from childhood, he goes, ‘Does she ever kiss you like that?’ No, I didn’t even know she could kiss like that.”

Earlier this month, Bell shared her thoughts with E! News about her passionate scenes with Brody and how Shepard responded to them.

Bell commented: “Even I can acknowledge watching it, like, ‘Whoa, that’s hot’. My husband said the same thing. Like, watching the first episode he was like, ‘Oh my God, I want you to kiss him so badly’.”

Despite the convincing chemistry on screen, Bell insisted it was all for show.

“I’m not trying to be reductive, but I think there’s a math to it,” she elaborated.

“You have two actors that know how to stare dopily into each other’s eyes, and you have to have the confidence to expand that and really sit the anticipatory value before the kiss—which I think is really important.”

“Nobody Wants This” is now available for streaming on Netflix.
