Dennis Quaid has shared insights into why his marriage to Laura Savoie is a blissful experience, even though there is an age gap of nearly 40 years between them.
Many celebrity couples have notable age differences, such as Harrison Ford and Calista Flockhart, with a 22-year gap, and Holland Taylor, who is over 30 years senior to her partner, Sarah Paulson.
Age differences in a relationship don’t necessarily hinder its success, as demonstrated by Quaid, 71, and Savoie, 32. The couple illustrates this notion perfectly.
They first crossed paths in 2019 and took their vows in a discreet ceremony by 2020, becoming husband and wife.
Five years into their marriage, the couple also collaborates professionally, with Quaid appointing Savoie as a founding partner of his production company, Bonniedale Films, in 2021.
Their relationship seems to be thriving, which Quaid emphasized in a recent interview.
In a conversation with Fox News Digital, he shared: “My life is paradise. Every day is paradise with her. It really is. It’s the closest relationship I’ve ever had with anybody. Every day is paradise. What can I tell you? I don’t know why God had waited so long to bring her, for her to come along, but [I’m] really glad he brought her into my life, or I walked into hers.”
Despite the age difference, Quaid mentioned to Fox News Digital last year that this relationship feels no different than his past ones.
He expressed: “I haven’t spoken out about the age difference of my wife. Other people have. But… I really don’t think about it. She’s got so much going on that, you know, I just don’t notice it. She’s just, she’s the light of my life. I wasn’t looking for it, and she came along, and it’s God put us together.”
Laura Savoie is Quaid’s fourth wife, following his marriages to P.J. Soles (1978 to 1983), Meg Ryan (1991 to 2001), and Kimberly Buffington (2004 to 2018).
After his divorce from Buffington in 2018, Quaid met Savoie the following year, marking the start of a new chapter.
Addressing the age gap with Savoie, Quaid told the Guardian in 2019: “It really doesn’t bother us. Everyone comes from the perspective of their own life and so I can’t comment on the way they feel; I can’t even get angry.”
Although initially planning a Hawaiian wedding, the couple opted for Santa Barbara, California, as their wedding location due to Covid-19 restrictions.
