Diagnosed as a psychopath, a man has shared insights into the signs and symptoms of the condition.
Loic De Marie has discussed his diagnosis and the impact it has had on his life experiences.
During his youth, De Marie underwent the PCL-R test, designed to determine an individual’s position on the ‘psychopathy spectrum’. A higher score suggests a more severe manifestation of psychopathic traits.
While the term ‘psychopath’ is often colloquially used to describe selfish or inappropriate behavior, the PCL-R offers a clinical perspective on traits associated with psychopathy.
Individuals with high PCL-R scores may display a lack of emotion and disregard for how their actions negatively affect others.
These individuals might also have a dismissive attitude toward those around them, perceiving them as unintelligent or easily manipulated.

On the People Are Deep podcast, De Marie, who hails from Belgium, described what differentiates him from those with lower psychopathy scores.
“No matter what I’ve done, never,” he stated. “I don’t regret anything. I’m going to live once and I’m going to do it for myself. I don’t have any regret.”
This mindset has led to significant consequences for him in the past.
“I’ve been arrested and I’ve been conducted to the police station,” he shared. “I don’t give a s*** about what’s going to happen. And I don’t think about consequences of my behavior.”
Illustrating this behavior, he recounted accompanying his mother to visit a dying friend, with the ulterior motive of trying to seduce the friend’s daughter.
“If the person had to die, this is not a matter for me,” he said.

De Marie elaborated on his perception of others.
“When you are a psychopath, you tend to believe that people are not smart,” he explained. “That’s why you use them. You see people as objects. You think they are stupid.”
“You can get what you want from them. That’s why you manipulate people.”
However, De Marie has used his understanding of manipulation to reverse the roles in his current endeavors.
He now works as a life coach, assisting others in identifying and avoiding manipulative patterns.
De Marie stated: “I can get what I want without destroying anybody else. It’s like a contract with me and people.”
